You know you're a mom when...

...you are all dressed up for an event or an evening out and you look down to find a bright pink Dora the Explorer or Hello Kitty band-aid on your finger.

...it isn't unusual to be joined in the bathroom by multiple little people...or to even be holding a child on your lap while trying to take a potty break yourself.

...a good morning is measured by how many times you have to re-warm your coffee. 3+ times equals a not so good morning for me. 1 or 2 times is a decent morning. Didn't have to re-warm it at all? The girls must be at the grandparents.

...you know the location of every drive-thru Starbucks and all the restaurants that feature curbside to go. You are also still ticked that Braums stopped letting you buy milk and bread through the drive-thru window...even though that was years ago.

...playing peek-a-boo with a toddler on the other side of the shower curtain is just part of the morning routine.

...your closet is filled with so many sizes of clothes that it could be its own little retail outlet...pre-ever having children, pre-maternity post having children, maternity, post maternity...plus the sizes that you wore either while you were or were not pregnant, but couldn't bring yourself to wear maternity quite yet or still be wearing maternity after the baby. Does that make sense to anyone? Can you tell I'm getting ready for a garage sale and currently sorting clothes?

Just a few thoughts from this mommy early on a Friday morning. Does anyone else form blog posts in their head as they shower?

I can totally relate and am glad I'm not the only one who occasionally has to hold a toddler on her lap while doing her business.

And the clothes. Yep, all sizes and not sure why I'm holding onto them...

This post was great!

I finally purged my closet of old clothes...one pile to the second hand store and the other to donate. I only kept the best of the best in case by some mircle I DO lose that extra baby weight that I've been carting around.

I also play peek-a-boo while I'm showering with my daughter. If I didnt' do that I would never be clean!

too chez!
Re-warming coffee and bathroom "buddies" really DRIVE me crazy.
I've never HEARD of drive -up Milk and bread...I am MAD just thinking that nobody would continue to DO that and do it here. Now I'm going to stew on that...
Why is it you can get FAST food that isn't even HEALTHY for you...but you can't get milk and bread and fruit or that one green pepper you forgot when you were shopping. I WANT a curb side drive up!!!!

I can totally relate to the re-warming the coffee but I would also add the number of cups of coffee is also a sign of how the day will go, or is going already!

Happy weekend!

I wonder if one day I'll be sad when noone flips back the shower curtain while I'm in there to ask a question. Will I miss deep converation with two boys while on the potty? Will I remember fondly the loud knocks and pudgy little fingers under door, if I dared to close it before going to the restroom? Will I invite my husband in when the kids are grown just because I'm lonely?

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. But mostly to the bathroom situation. Savannah's favorite time is when I take a bath, she hangs over the side of the tub inspecting me with great interest. I have to invent reasons to get her out of there. :)

Yes.....about knowing where the Starbucks drive-thrus are! I will drive an extra 10 minutes just so i don't have to get the kids out of the car and wait in line inside!!

Showers are the only time I get a moment to think, of course! Though peek a boo often interrupts even there. Great list - everything fits me here...

I can really relate to the shower and potty buddy! The weird thing is though, I wonder what's wrong when my little one doesn't do one of these things each day! I worry about whether or not she is doing something she's not suppose to, or is she sick, did she get hurt...because she is my shadow:)

This is such a great post!! I can relate your thoughts. Only, I look down and see a hotwheels or pirate band-aid. (Oh, but that will be fun to sport a girlie one in the not too far off future!) And, I am so with you on knowing all of the drive-thru Starbucks!! And nothing could be more true than measuring your morning's success by the reheats of the coffee. You know the morning didn't go well when yo discover your cold coffee cup in the microwave late in the day- or even the next morning when you are re-heating the next one!!

I have the "retail outlet" going on in my own closet. And I have never been pregnant. LOL Figure that one out!

So very true. I remember pre-children thinking what are all of these drive-thrus for in the small town we lived in. Now, we whole-heartedly use them every one. Especially each Starbucks Drive Thru! :)

I love this post!

I was just thinking about how completely horrified I would have been at 21 to know that 10 years later, about 50% of the time I peed I would be holding a child.

Your little one says "I can do it myself. I don't need any help". Five minutes later..."I can't do this, can you help me?" I totally want to say "No! You can do it yourself!" Great post
