The fever started last night. Lethargy followed. Thankfully cuddles did too.
I took Lily to one of the 5 or 6 "urgent" care centers that we have around town...this one chosen because we could check in ahead of time and they didn't have a long wait. "Come in at 8:30 and we'll be able to see her right away," they said. Then they called me at 8:15 letting me know they were actually ready for her then. Great, I thought...we'll be on Tamiflu in no time. Of course when we got there, we ended up waiting for over an hour in a room full of feverish coughing people. Ugh.
One very scary nose swab later, she was diagnosed with H1N1 Type A Flu. She and the rest of the town I'm pretty sure... 1/3 of her preschool class, along with the teacher, included.
They prescribed Tamiflu for her and Relenza for me, only after I paid an additional copay for myself...which seemed ridiculous. Nothing prescribed for Jerry and Jade. Guess they are just sitting ducks...or sitting pigs, rather.
I'm pretty sure one call to our pediatrician will have that rectified though.
Has the swine flu made you whine yet?

Thankfully, prayerfully... no whining from the swine flu at our house.
I hope you all are feeling better quickly!
Oh boy! Thankfully the piggies haven't made it to our house yet -- but they are making the rounds on the rest of the town! I talked to one of the teachers at the middle school I used to work for and found out they have over 100 students missing -- average this time of year is 30! Definitely makes me glad I'm staying at home now!
Hope you all get better soon!
oh noooo... so sorry to hear that, girl! i'm assembling my plastic bubble for the kiddos right away... or maybe just some extra vit C & D! ;) my youngest has gotten the flu 2 yrs in a row. no fun. hope she is better real soon!!
oh no! get your piggies well soon!
Although we haven't been to the dr. it's been a rough week around here. I'm the one whose been the sickest, but it certainly wasn't the sickest I've ever been. The kiddos have had a few symptoms, including some low-grade fever. But I'm praying that it is over now. Its been a very long week:( So sorry that your family is sick now, too.
That's terrible. Although you had a cute way of telling the story- sitting pigs- that made me smile. And, then, of course, it seemed wrong to smile. I am so sorry about the flu.
Quick! Knock on wood! We've been flu free - but not stomach flu free. Alot of the kids in her school have been out with it, but so far so good!
I hope Jade is feeling better soon! Stay well!
Welcome to the blog party hosted by Michelle!
Oh dear...what an introduction!! You are in the throes of the swine flu troubles! Trust all will be put right quickly and everyone in your home will recover fully.
I read your "about me" and see that you are a busy Mom and are contemplating homeschool! Well...one piece of advice...make sure you and your husband are in total agreement and then GO FOR IT!! You will NEVER regret it! :)
We had our children in a private Christian school until the oldest was going into grade six. THEN we began our homeschool journey. Our fist year we began with grades 6, 4, and 2...and our youngest was four years old. Anyway...four years later we are so thankful that we DID IT! :)
May the Lord bless you today...and I will pray that He helps your family to recover quickly!
Blessings,
Camille
Thanks for joining in the party! So sorry to hear about the flu. Praying for quick healing and mild symptoms!

Oh no Kerry! Poor little Lily! I am so scared for the flu. I feel sure that one of us will get it. Most everyone we know has had at least one family person with it...either regular flu or the swine version. Hope you all feel better very soon!
So sorry to hear Lily had to go through that. I am glad she is better, though!
