Whether springing forward or falling back, they've got your back!

Ah...spring forward time. The time of much groaning, complaining and gnashing of teeth.

Actually since having children, I've found that falling backwards is just as confusing to their little internal clocks as springing forward is. They are either getting to bed too late or rising too early...mainly due to sunlight issues.

Meet one of my sincerest friends...the room darkening shade.

These are seriously the best things known to mankind...at least if you take your sleep or that of your children seriously.

They are cheap and discreet...you can hide them behind a curtain or even use them in front of blinds with a valance and just pull them down when you need them.

My girls don't realize that even when it is technically only 6:30 PM (though the clock says 7:30 PM) that it is completely daylight outside. We just pull the shades down and nighty-night folks. They also work great for keeping them asleep when we "fall back" and it is light so stinkin' early in the morning. And of course they are a hit for nap time on a daily basis.

So, like my title says...whether we are springing forward or falling back, these shades have got your back.

Our kids are so mixed up with the time change right now. Various sleeping in and staying up too late caused me to cancel Luke's nap yesterday so he'd go to bed on time last night but then he woke up around 1 am and would not go back to sleep for quite a while. I guess missing the nap really made it worse. Gotta fix this kid today :)

What a great idea. I heard on the news that there are more heart attacks in the spring change and lower numbers in the fall change. I hate it...we should move it one-half hour and leave it alone!!!

I also have room darkening curtains - that have a lined "darkening" panel behind the fabric. They are absolutely wonderful! I really wish I had them for my room.

You know what gets me?
The kiddos have an easier time with the time change then I do.
I don't get it. I think I'm the one that needs the shades!

I would've never thought to put the shade in front of the blinds. That's an awesome idea! I currently have aluminum foil behind the blinds (I know, so ghetto!) but that window faces only into our back yard so I don't feel too badly. I do love the shade idea though, so I'll have to give that a shot!

jennifer...we have bought them at both home depot and lowes...$7-8 per typical window...and they cut them to size for you!

the light coming in the room we have handled, it's the neighbor kid playing the drums next door that's hard. they are surely sweet and kind to us though!
