Randomness, please exit my brain!

Maybe if I record the randomness floating in my head I will actually sleep when it finally hits the pillow. Here's to hoping!

*I created an Evite for a little Halloween shindig. Created it Saturday morning and then their site went down. The dern thing still has not gone out. Grrr....

*I love Whataburger's ketchup. It is the best. It totally deserves the name "fancy". I also love how Whataburger's menu items are rounded to the $ and tax is included.

*I actually don't frequent Whataburger often. Seriously.

*Tonight at Super Target the lady commented on how it was like I arranged all of my items on the belt in perfect bagging order. Of course...doesn't everybody? Must be that cashier job I had back in high school.

*Enough of the risque hoochie mama Halloween costumes...

*I think I have our costumes figured out for Living History Day at Lily's school. Two are actually bought...two I have to order yet.

*There is a bare wooden shield sitting in my living room. Needs to be painted and transformed into something spectacular for the previously mentioned event. Lord help me! The note from the school said that they hoped this would be a project we enjoyed doing with our child. I hope so too.

*Our Texas Rangers are in the World Series. I am thrilled for my father-in-law! I have known that man for almost 16 years now...and he has been hopeful of something big like this every season. It has finally happened!

*I have begun reading my first ever Francine Rivers book. People have been telling me to for years...wish I hadn't waited so long. Amazing stuff!

*My hubby installed a cat door to let our kitties (all THREE of them) in/out of our garage to do their business. Not having their food or litter box in our house has been life changing.

*Jerry will be travelling to India & Indonesia as well as possibly Nepal and Thailand next year. In one trip. Still trying to get my head around that one. Sounds like many, many days and nights without a daddy around.

*After having Lily start Kindergarten this year, I finally realize what Summer is all about. I am looking forward to Summer.

*It has been in the high 80s here...completely too hot for the end of October.

*Today I made a rare trip to the office for my part-time job. My normally 40 minute commute turned into 2.5 hours on the way home. That is 150 minutes of my life that I will never get to live again. What a waste!

*Guess what arrived in the mail today? Our Christmas card order! Woo hoo...I have no excuse not to get those babies mailed on time this year.

Well, I think that about does it.

Nighty, night.

Things I probably shouldn't admit

That it is 12:17 AM and I know I should be in bed, but I am still up. I will regret it in the morning and promise myself that I'll go to bed earlier...and won't.

I've been working too many hours and it is really showing up in the form of chaos in our home.

The light beamed in at just the right angle earlier today and exposed some freakish cobwebs on my walls/ceilings. How long have they been there? Who else has noticed them and not said anything, but sure thought something?

I got pulled over again tonight. Rolled through a stop sign apparently. I was in my husband's truck and couldn't find proof of insurance. His inspection also just expired 8/31. And I only got a warning. This is unbelievable to me because up until last week, I had never gotten a warning...ever. Only stinkin' expensive tickets. Last week I got a warning for going 42 in a 30. I've driven that road for 3 years and always thought it was 40. 2 little girls witnessed mommy getting caught disobeying. Very humbling. Now Lily always asks me if I'm driving too fast. I'm just thankful she wasn't with me in the truck tonight.

Why do I do things/eat things/say things that I wouldn't want them to do/eat/say? Total depravity. Thank you Lord that you provide rescue. Thank you for using my kids to sanctify me over and over and over again.

And last but not least on the list of things that I probably shouldn't admit...I turned the sprinkler on out back a bit ago. Now it is raining, thundering and lightning so bad that I am too chicken to go turn it off.

When Jerry figures out what I did and the probable flood I caused, I'm glad I can distract him with the fact that I got pulled over in his truck with no proof of insurance anywhere to be found, boasting an inspired inspection sticker...and got off with just a warning.

And now I really am going to bed...

You know you're a mom when...

...you are all dressed up for an event or an evening out and you look down to find a bright pink Dora the Explorer or Hello Kitty band-aid on your finger.

...it isn't unusual to be joined in the bathroom by multiple little people...or to even be holding a child on your lap while trying to take a potty break yourself.

...a good morning is measured by how many times you have to re-warm your coffee. 3+ times equals a not so good morning for me. 1 or 2 times is a decent morning. Didn't have to re-warm it at all? The girls must be at the grandparents.

...you know the location of every drive-thru Starbucks and all the restaurants that feature curbside to go. You are also still ticked that Braums stopped letting you buy milk and bread through the drive-thru window...even though that was years ago.

...playing peek-a-boo with a toddler on the other side of the shower curtain is just part of the morning routine.

...your closet is filled with so many sizes of clothes that it could be its own little retail outlet...pre-ever having children, pre-maternity post having children, maternity, post maternity...plus the sizes that you wore either while you were or were not pregnant, but couldn't bring yourself to wear maternity quite yet or still be wearing maternity after the baby. Does that make sense to anyone? Can you tell I'm getting ready for a garage sale and currently sorting clothes?

Just a few thoughts from this mommy early on a Friday morning. Does anyone else form blog posts in their head as they shower?

Completely Random...Disney World to Homeschool to Starfall.com

Randomly random. This is what my mind does to me after one too many cups of coffee. I drink one too many cups when I make the mistake of allowing Lily to talk me into buying the canned whipped cream for her waffles. She likes for me to make butterflies or faces or what not on them with the cream and then dot her fingers too for a good ol' lickin'.

Surprisingly, Jade does not like any part of having cream or even syrup on her waffles much less on her fingers. To make up for that, I have been topping my coffee with loads of squirt-on whipped cream. I figure the more quickly we get through it, the sooner I will get to witness Lily's dramatic fit at the store when I resist buying more, and then my brain will be on its return to normalcy. If there is such a thing.

Or, we could speed up the process by squirting it directly into our mouths, but that would be COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. As if squirting it on my child's fingers is step one to perfect etiquette.

Until then, here are the thoughts that are roaming the lobes of my brain this fine morning.

Jade's "bae". That is bae with a long A. Known to others as her blankie or lovey. It goes everywhere with us. And although I wash it as often as I can (my mom recently crocheted a replacement one which has helped), its once fluffy yellow state is now at best a dirty tinged grayish yellow. Why am I worried about this? Our Christmas pictures are scheduled for next week, and although I'd really love to have the memory of Jade's bae forever captured, I'd really like for her not to have to bring it into the picture. Any ideas on how to pull that off? She immediately recognizes when it has left her presence and cries out for it until it is swiftly returned. Should we just all dress in yellow and hope it blends in? That would surely make a cheery Christmas card. Oh the pun fun we could have with that...Welcoming God's son with the sun...hee...hee.

Mozilla FireFox. I am so not one for change, but I recently downloaded FireFox to use instead of internet explorer. It is so great for all of us bloggers...commenting bloggers at least. It auto fills your name, e-mail, and site address into the comment boxes. I'm hooked.

Homeschooling. I know Lily is only four, but I've recently been intrigued by the idea of homeschooling her. I'm a teacher by degree, but have balked at the idea of homeschooling for years. We even moved from the downtown area out here because of the good public schools. Then my husband taught in a public school in our district before going back into ministry...and whoa...eye opener. We've been doing a little research and are quickly becoming fans of Charlotte Mason. Any fans of her out there? All the pros and cons...my mind is just spinning with them. And my mother is probably trying to find a heart pill by me just contemplating the idea.

Disney World. Our trip is just a few weeks away. The Disney website completely overwhelms me every time I log on. We're staying on property for 5 nights and have park passes for 3 days. Thank you Aunt Sandi and in-laws who are throwing our nephew's 3rd birthday there and invited us to come. I'm not sure how planned or not-planned to be. I know some people plan years in advance and read every book on it. Me? Ugh...it's mere days away and I haven't done a dern thing. Thoughts are welcome.

Starfall.com. If my blogging seems to be lacking (more than usual, anyway), it is because Lily has discovered Starfall.com. My computer time while the baby sleeps has been replaced by Lily sitting on my lap playing all the fun games she can find. Rocks in my Dryer provided a fun little button a while back that links to tons of great sites. You can find it a ways down on my left sidebar. Be ready to give up your blogging though. I'll understand. :)

Thanks for letting the randomness exit my brain. I feel much better now and Lily is ready to meet her computer addiction needs for the day, so peace out.
